What is SSC?

History and Background
- The Estimates Committee of the Parliament, in its 47th Report (1967-68), recommended the setting up of a Service Selection Commission for conducting examinations for recruitment to lower categories of posts.
- The Government of India, in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms vide its Resolution No. 46/1(S)/74-Estt.(B) dated the 4th November, 1975 constituted a Commission called the Subordinate Services Commission.
- Subordinate Services Commission has subsequently been re-designated as Staff Selection Commission effective from the 26th September, 1977 to make recruitment to various Class III (now Group “C”) (non-technical) posts in the various Ministries/Departments of the Govt. of India and in Subordinate Offices.
Functions of SSC
The primary duties of SSC include:

SSC CGL
- It is combined graduate level exam.
- As the name indicate the minimum qualification for this exam is graduate degree form recognized university.
- The Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Assistant Section Officer, Auditor are some posts in this category.
- Age limit is typically range between 18-32 years.
SSC CHSL
- It is Combined Higher Secondary Level exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission.
- The minimum educational qualification required for this post is 10+2.
- Some posts in this category are LDC, DEO, JSA and Data entry operator.
- Age limit for this post is 18 to 27 years.
SSC MTS
- It is the recruitment process conducted by Staff Selection Commission for multi-tasking staff.
- The posts in this category are Peon, Daftary, Chowkidar, etc.
- Educational qualification for his post is candidate should have 10th Pass.

SSC CPO

Tier-I (Preliminary)
